Trucks should only be driven by people who have the right skills set to operate these properly. For drivers to be allowed to drive big trucks and heavy equipment, they need to undergo a skills test that gauges their proficiency in operating such powerful and dangerous machines safely. A driver would only be certified capable to drive such vehicles after their have passed such tests.

Just recently, two people died after a big rig and a work truck happened along the eastbound 60 Freeway transition road to the southbound 71 Freeway in the Pomona area. According to the report of the California Highway Patrol, one of the victims was a man in his 20s while the other is a man in his 40s. The CHP has not released the names of the victims just yet. On the other hand, another victim was airlifted to the nearby hospital to be treated from his injuries. However the condition of the third victim is yet to be known.

According to the investigators of the accident, the collision took place at around 9 in the morning. The incident have then caused the closure of the freeway transition causing a massive traffic jam in the area, whose tail end reached for a couple of miles from the area of the accident.

Reasons why truck accidents happen
Given the stringent training that drivers go through, you might end up wondering why accidents between trucks and super big rigs are still happening. According to a Los Angeles truck accident lawyer, accidents are caused by these things:
  • The condition of the vehicle. Dilapidated and poorly-maintained vehicles are most likely to break down; and when that happens, it is most likely to cause accidents on the road.
  • Poor weather conditions. Bad weather makes roads un-drivable. During these times, a driver needs to take extra caution while driving or he or she might end up in a crash.
  • Driver error. This is the most common reason why crashes do happen. It could be caused by a lot of things, a simple miscalculation, DUI, or distracted driving. A simple driver error can have a catastrophic end that causes injuries or claim one’s life.

As a driver, one should make sure that everything is okay with their rides and exercise safe driving practices to prevent accidents from happening. A Los Angeles Personal Injury Attorney believes that this simple way of thinking can help make the roads safer for everybody, something that everybody wants to achieve.
